- Biblical patterns for the number 8 -

I welcome you to this wonderful month of August. This 8th month of the year has a significant impact in our lives and more so for this particular year. Why? This year is 2008 and the 2nd Friday of this month will be tagged 8.8.8. whao! Such a date can only occurred once in 1000 year.

Let’s quickly look at the significance of number 8 in the bible and let’s tally it with what is going on in our lives now.

Here are some significant aspects we were shown about the number eight for this next year from some biblical patterns:

I Samuel 16:10 - 11: Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The LORD has not chosen these." 11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered, “but he is tending the sheep”. Samuel said, "Send for him; we will not sit down [a] until he arrives”.

- David was the eighth son, new DYNASTY for Israel. (This includes the word legacy as a key word.)

Genesis 17:11-13: 11 “and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you. 12 He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant. 13 He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant”.

- Circumcision takes place on the eighth day, new life through covenant. A new holiness movement will require personal circumcision or the cutting away of sin issues in our lives, and then the church will see a national move of holiness.

2 Peter 2:5: “And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly”.

- Eight souls on the ark - new beginning of the earth, new revelation of God’s judgement and His grace.

Revelation 14:3: “And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth”.
